I would be careful about setting expectations too high about an upcoming year, but only because I have personally discovered myself that pleasant surprises are much, much sweeter when I expect nothing.
It’s certainly true when it comes to video games—I tend to be disappointed at best when I pre-order a game expecting it to be the best thing since sliced bread (even if it still turns out okay), but when I just pick up some older game at a steep discount thinking “okay, this will hold me over for a weekend or two” there’s a good chance I picked up some hidden gem like Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil that I’ll fondly remember and constantly replay for the rest of my days.
Maybe I should apply that philosophy to other aspects of life…
